West (1921-2017), army ID #150808455  of Squadron 371; Barracks 145, Scott Field, Illinois.  to his parents M/M William West of 111 Spencerville Street, Hicksville Ohio. See his obituary below for more info about his career. This written November 15, 1943
    Edward E. West, age 95, of Ashland, Ohio, passed away on July 24, 2017.
    He was born on August 21, 1921 to the late William F. and Opal (Wells) West in Anchor, Illinois. Edward enlisted in the Reserve Corps on August 21, 1942 (his 21st birthday).
    He is the final survivor of his B-25 squadron known as the 490th, Burma Bridge Busters. He flew 53 missions where his job was Radio Gunner, and "Flew the Hump" in India and China
    .
    He worked as the Director of Student Financial Aid at Ashland University and John Carroll University.
    Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Doris (Peat) West.
    Edward is survived by children Patricia (David) Cater of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Thomas (Alana) West of Maplewood, New Jersey, grandchildren Amy (Scott) Whitt of Pickerington, Nick (Jessica) Cater of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Ariana and Miranda West of Maplewood, New Jersey, great-grandchildren Serrin and Ryne Whitt, Brandon, Derricka, Kyla, Leah and Jada Cater, sister Geraldine West Smitley of Hicksville, Ohio.
    Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ashland County Memorial Park, Ashland, Ohio with Chaplain Gary Brose officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Capital City Hospice, 1650 Watermark Drive #180, Columbus, Ohio, 43215.
