CHAMBER’S DRUG STORE ICE CREAM PARLOR CONEY ISLAND BROOKLYN NEW YORK CITY
This is a really a nice early black and white image looking at the interior of the famous ice cream parlor that was located on Surf Avenue right in the heart of Coney Island Brooklyn. Interior detailed view at right side shows a corner of the marble soda fountain with a large glass display case behind it along with a portion of a large floor to ceiling display case at the far right. At the left there are a number of ice cream tables and chairs. The image is captioned in the white margin at the base and reads Ice Cream Parlor and also says, Published By Chamber’s Pharmacy, Coney Island NY. Images in this series are quite hard to get. The local drug store also published a set of cards printed in four color each picturing various scenes of Coney Island. Any card published by this local publisher are becoming quite scarce. The condition of the card is overall crisp without any rips or tears with minor corner and edge wear along with a crease in the lower right corner. The reverse side is postally unused and having an early undivided back. The name of the printer is mentioned on the reverse as being Rich Photo-Process Co. 28 East 23
