    Description

    Selling a superb 19th century hand carved German shooter's (Scheutzen, Scheutzenfest) storage box in excellent condition and with an old dark finish.  Size is 6" by 9 1/2" by 21".  Boxes of this type were usually called "bible boxes" and were used for storing the family bible.  This was definitely a shooter's storage box due to the hunting dog motif and the
    traditional
    acorn / oak leaf Scheutzen motifs.   Plus it had a long ago shooter's
    collection
    of medals  and shooting
    equipment
    .  This stunning antique box is heavily carved, and completely assembled with chubby hand cut dovetails, seethe hand done score marks which were the maker's guide for chiseling the openings for the dovetails.  Retains original brass hinges, the original lock and hasp.  Pick up in Pompton Plains, NJ 07444 or  will ship at buyer's expense vial priority mail!
