NICE EARLY ROBBINS TYPE 3 EAGLE SCOUT MEDAL WITH PALMS GROUP 1934 BSA BOY SCOUTNICE EARLY ROBBINS TYPE 3 EAGLE SCOUT MEDAL WITH PALMS GROUP 1934 BSA BOY SCOUT
Description
Presented for the Eagle Scout Medal type collector is this fine little group consisting of a very early Robbins Type 3 Eagle Scout Medal with gold, silver, and bronze palms affixed along with a "Tent Pitching" medal that is engraved on the reverse. This group is in untouched, uncleaned, as-found condition. The Eagle Scout Medal is a Robbins Type 3 strike and exhibits three original palms in gold, silver, and bronze. The brooch is marked "STERLING" near the pin hinge and the pin and roller catch function perfectly. The patina on the brooch and planchet is very pleasingly dark and untouched. The ribbon is only slightly faded, but it is stable and all there. The accompanying "Tent Pitching" medal serves to date the group itself. It is an official BSA-manufactured award as evidenced by the relief marking of the Boy Scout seal on the reverse reading "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA HEADQUARTERS NEW YORK CITY." The medal is hand engraved with the place and date of award which reads, "TACOMA PARK MAY 26, 1934." This is a scarce BSA medal in its own right! The blue ribbon on this one is stable as well. This fine little group would complement any collection of BSA or Eagle Scout ephemera. More fine Scouting material from Brother Rabbit's hutch!
