There is something rather magical about Merrythought’s first Cheeky Unicorn.
Cheeky's name came about as a result of a member of England's Royal Family picking him up at a trade show in 1956 and -- having studied him closely -- pronouncing him 'a cheeky little bear.'
A classic snowy-white mohair Cheeky is presented in a stunning removable outfit made of luxurious woven plush with a mohair mane and tail with indigo-blue tipping. Cheeky's fully-lined bonnet features delightful unicorn details including bright blue eyes, little pink ears and, of course, a pure wool felt 'horn' with embroidery detail. Cheeky Unicorn has cotton velvet foot pads and all-wool felt paw pads. Her unforgettable face comes together with friendly eyes and a cheeky hand-stitched expression. Cheeky Unicorn is 10 inches, five-way jointed and bean-filled for extra softness.
As the signature of a true Cheeky Bear, she features a jingle bell in each ear and is finished with a prestigious stamp of approval: the famous Merrythought gold-and-black label stitched to the right paw.

has been hand-making the quintessential English teddy bear in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire, since 1930 and is now the last remaining British teddy bear manufacturer. The company is a fourth generation family business founded by Mr W.G Holmes in 1930 as a diversification from his mohair mill in Yorkshire. Over the years a huge range of teddy bears, soft toys, dolls, push-along toys, rocking horses and other animals have been created in the famous factory.
