The distinctive Cheeky Bear is a flagship Merrythought character, well-loved and collected across the globe.
Cheeky's name came about as a result of a member of England's Royal Family picking him up at a trade show in 1956 and -- having studied him closely -- pronouncing him 'a cheeky little bear.'
Merrythought's annual Christmas Cheeky Teddy Bear from 2018 is the perfect addition to the holiday season! His sky-blue and white knit sweater
features the famous Merrythought wishbone and wintry snowflakes, working
beautifully with his champagne-colored mohair and cream velvet paws. Based on the original 1950's design, Christmas Cheeky measures a wonderful 10 inches and is five-way jointed. A tactile, bean-filled tummy makes this Teddy a great hug and the perfect weight. Christmas Bear features a cheerful hand-stitched smile and nose with the most friendly, endearing eyes, along with hand-stitched claws and embroidery on his paw of Merrythought's iconic wishbone logo and snowflakes. Of course, like all Merrythought bears, he is finished with a prestigious stamp of approval: the famous Merrythought gold-and-black label stitched to the right paw - a reminder that he is made in England.

Merrythought
has been hand-making the quintessential English teddy bear in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire UK since 1930 and is now the last remaining British Teddy bear manufacturer. The company is a fourth-generation family business founded by Mr W.G. Holmes in 1930 as a diversification from his mohair mill in Yorkshire. Over the years, a huge range of Teddy bears, soft toys, dolls, push-along toys, rocking horses and other animals have been created in the famous factory.
